Second Floor
has four parts
Part 1: LAUNDRY ROOM
![](as_is/upphall2.jpg)
The old drywall was in 2x4 pieces.
![](scndflrp/laundry2.jpg)
Put in a small window, expanded the walls, and insulated.
![](scndflrp/washer_dryer.jpg)
Hauling the washer and dryer up from the basement was not easy.
![](scndflrp/sink_table.jpg)
Have a big laundry sink and folding table.
![](scndflrp/racks.jpg)
Lots of racks because I hang dry most of my clothes.
Part 2: DORMER ROOM
![](as_is/guest3.jpg)
The eastern side of the second floor is basically a dormer.
![](as_is/guest1.jpg)
With an unused chimmney taking up space.
![](scndflrp/dormer_studs.jpg)
Gut it all down to the studs.
![](scndflrp/dormer_elect.jpg)
Expand the walls and gave the second floor
its own electrical breaker panel.
![](scndflrp/rafters.jpg)
The old 2x4 walls and ceiling did not do much for support.
So I replaced them with 2x8 beam and 2x6 rafters.
Part 3: MASTER BEDROOM
![](as_is/master1.jpg)
One of the largest rooms in the house.
![](scndflrp/master_gut.jpg)
Looks pretty bad when gutted.
Part 4: MASTER BATHROOM
![](scndflrp/upbath_gut.jpg)
The old floor was scummy.
